"Tonight & Forever"... so der Titel des neuen Sense Field Albums. Anlässlich der neuen
Platte plauderten wir mit Rob Pfeiffer, seines Zeichens Schlagzeuger, über das Machwerk
und sprachen nochmal über die Geschehnisse und die Folgen vom 11. September,
die sicher bei einigen von uns noch in den Köpfen stecken... very interesting!!!

First of all I have to say that I don't  know much about you guys... so  could you give us a  short  introduction of yourselves?

Rob: We're a Southern California  rock band with collective  backrounds in punk and hard core. Our music is powerfully guitar   driven and often high energy  coupled with thoughtful lyrics and soaring vocals.

I read that you're coming from really different places... LA and NYC. So how you
met and does that have any influence on your music, cause the music scenes seem
to be more or less very different?

Rob: I met the rest of the guys through a mutual friend in NYC a few years ago when
they were looking for a new drummer. I went to LA to jam with them and we began to hit
it off musically right off the bat.  Although I was coming from NYC and had all my musical
backround there, joining Sense Field could not have been an easier musical bond.
We started immedialy crafting some great music with no boundaries.

Directly to that... where do you have better chances (to have sucess with your music))?

Rob: I think the music from "Tonight and Forever" has just as great a chance of being
successful in NY as in LA or in any other country for that matter.

You did a lot of touring last year... just through America or have you visit countries apart
    from the USA?

Rob: We've only toured in the states on this album so far, but plan on touring Europe
    in June and July.

You were touring while this american tragedy happened. has it affected your touring?

Rob: The tragedy of Sept 11th stopped everybody's lives, no matter who you are or
what you were doing. We were near NYC when it happened.  We cancelled some shows
on that tour, but at that point in time, playing music and touring didn't even seem to matter
anymore.  Just being safe and near your loved ones meant the world.

Could you tell us your personal feelings about the things happened in New York?
Where were you, when you heard about it? Are you still feeling save now or is it
    just exaggeration?

Rob: What happened on Sept. 11th has affected so many people in so many ways.
We will all remember exactly what we were doing and where we were at the time.
We were all in shock.  Although it still seems like yesterday, I think we have all regained
a lot of the confidence as frequent travellers, and as American citizens.

What about your new label 'Nettwerk'? Are you satisfied?

Rob: We have been very happy about our relationship with Nettwerk.  They really believe in the band and the new record.  They have helped us reach new highs and continue to tirelessly put their best efforts forward to support the band.  We are very fortunate to join forces with them.

Let's talk about your new record... unfortunately I couldn't hear older Sense Field stuff.
so are there any stylistic changes or differences in contrast to your older releases?

Rob: Stylistically, the band has matured since the last release.  This record has much more
intrumentation, a few string arrangements, and a wider variety of  feels and dynamics
throughout the tracks. We certainly wanted to take our songwriting to a higher lever.

For me it sounds a bit like boy hits car. very melodic but very cool...

I think it's hard to categorize your music. Do you care if someone categorizes your band?
    Can you categorize Sense Field?

Rob: I think it's very hard to categorize our music too.  It's nice in a way not to be categorized
so people will have to listen for themselves to decide how to categorize us and try to figure
out where we fit in in the musical landscape. With so many musical trends right now, it's nice
to know that people can't throw you into one of them.  Not falling within certain boundaries
    is good for us creatively.

How would you describe your sound in one sentence?

Rob: Sense Field is a combination of punk rock with a side of melody and emotion.

mhhh. is there a confirmed tour at the moment?

Rob: We will be touring extensively in support of "Tonight & Forever" for the next several
months in the US and Europe.

Can we expect you in Germany soon?

Rob: We will be playing several shows in Germany in late June/early July.
